The marriage of tradition and modernity, the combination of ancestral art forms with today's design and creative technologies.
Our passion for Contemporary Africa Art started in 2008 in Kpalimé - Togo and Accra - Ghana, West Africa. Contemporary African Art has been a growing passion over the recent years. Travelling into even remote places, we go to scout for local artists to discover their work and support those artists that "SAY" something about their art.
Initially focusing on paintings, our primary selection criteria is that it should "TOUCHED" us.
Whether abstract or realistic, sad, joyful or just a situation...the works of art are discussed with the artist to find out what they intended to do and what triggered them to do such a work, and how they wanted to convey a message, if any.
Great African artists have now made it to the Sotheby's and al. auction houses. But most of the people I meet just try to make a living out of their talent and are really willing to show their lines of thought and their cultural environment. They are the likes of Joseph Amedokpo, Franck Ohin, Bruce Kouassi, Liebe....
At The Black Mix (TBM) we’re passionate about promoting a positive view of Africa in a modern, contemporaneous way that departs from the usual doom and gloom. We promote the idea that we are all citizens of the world in non partisans, non religious or political fashion. We also organise Events, Showcases, Business gatherings and various events (food, cinema, concerts, sports...).
